Battling through nearly every condition Mother Nature could throw at them, the Pserra Racing Team accepted every challenge they were given, and were rewarded for their hard work with a victory at the opening rounds of the new Eastern Canadian Karting Championships held at Goodwood Kartways near Toronto. Team driver Cory Luciano fought off the largest Rotax DD2 field in North American history to earn the win in his debut race on a Tecno chassis. Lorenzo Mandarino and Spencer Todd also displayed great performances and were very pleased with their new chassis.
"What a great way to start the year," stated Pserra Racing team owner Peter Serravalle from his Stouffville race shop. "All our drivers are very happy with the chassis, and we had a great weekend. My hats off to Cory [Luciano] for his amazing drive in the snow to victory on Saturday."
Luciano qualified his Pserra Racing powered Tecno Rotax DD2 in third position on Saturday, before driving away with the pre-final victory. As the DD2 field hit the track in the already freezing temperatures for their final, snow began to fall, adding to the already challenging rainy conditions. Fighting back and forth for the lead the entire stint, Cory grabbed the spot for good with two laps remaining and held on for victory. On Sunday, Luciano backed up his results with a solid third place finish.
"I am very proud of Cory, he drove a great race, never gave up, and earned the victory," continued Serravalle. Vance's strong final weekend performance saw him take fourth in the Rotax Max Masters Championship.
Along with Luciano, Pserra Racing also had earned some impressive results by Lorenzo Mandarino who drove through the field in Rotax Senior and was battling for the lead when an unfortunate mechanical error ended his chance at victory on Saturday. However he rebounded for his best ever finish to regional event at Goodwood with an impressive second-place on Sunday. Also Spencer Todd qualified on the front row in Rotax Junior, and Antonio Serravalle and Mitchell Boyd were fast in Rotax Micro-Max and Rotax Mini-Max respectively.
"All of our guys did extremely well this weekend. Lorenzo earned his best result at Goodwood, and we were fast in every Rotax class on track this weekend," said Serravalle.
