  • Stouffville, Ontario - The Pserra Racing team had an outstanding weekend at the opening rounds of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship (ECKC) held at the Goodwood Kartways facility just outside Toronto, Ontario. Back on Canadian soil, Pserra pilots Antonio Serravalle and Stefano Romano were both the class of their respective fields, with Serravalle scoring both Micro Max wins and Romano taking the Saturday victory in Rotax DD2. Both would never be outside the top-three during racing action, proving the strength of their Pserra team and the Tecno chassis.

The young and determined Antonio Serravalle stood out above the rest in the Rotax Micro Max class. Dominating all weekend, Serravalle showed right away as the one to beat by taking the pole position during Saturday qualifying, almost fourth tenths clear of this nearest competitor. If not for the Saturday prefinal the eight-year-old pilot would have had a perfect weekend, as he was involved in a first corner incident, which dropped him down the running order to fourth. Nevertheless, the young gun showed his true speed and determination, and was able to work his way back to second and almost nipped the leader at the line crossing just 0.057 back. All this while setting the fastest lap of the race! Powering back during the final, Serravalle blasted his competition by taking the race win by a staggering 7.68 seconds.

Come Sunday, Serravalle ruled the Micro Max field and came away with a perfect day by earning the pole position, prefinal win and another dominating victory. To top off the weekend, Serravalle broke the track record during the day's final!

New Pserra pilot Stefano Romano had an outstanding debut with his new team. Taking to the track for Saturday qualifying, Romano laid down the quickest lap against a stacked field of DD2 pilots. Battling all weekend long with former DD2 World Champion Pier-Luc Ouellette, Romano was bested in the prefinal action but maintained a front row starting position for the final. At the drop of the green flag, the Tecno pilot jumped to the lead and led every lap to add another win to the Pserra tally.

Sunday would not be quite as stellar for Romano, however the talented driver was never outside the top three during racing action. Romano clocked the third quickest time during the qualifying session, and was able to move up one position to equal his prefinal efforts from Saturday. Little action during the final ensued, as Romano trailed behind the world champ for 20 laps and had to settle for a second place podium finish to round out his weekend.

"We are still in the restructuring stages of our team, but the entire Pserra team is extremely happy with our results!" stated Pserra Racing Operations Manager, Petri Ranta. "I'm very proud of both Antonio and Stefano's results. Three wins, three pole positions and a second place finish, it doesn't get any closer than that to a perfect weekend. It was a great way to kick off the Canadian karting season, after showing so well in Florida."

The Pserra team will return to action in less than two weeks time, returning to the US for the second Pan American Challenge qualifier May 20-22 at Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend, Indiana. Making a quick turnaround, the team will then head to Quebec for the second leg of the ECKC at PSL Karting in Trois-Rivières.

Pserra Racing is the importer for the Tecno chassis, Canadian importer for Beta tools and has recently added LKE engines from Italy to their product list. Pserra Racing has the entire Tecno chassis line in stock, including the new 4-cycle chassis.
