  • Stouffville, Ontario - Eight-year-old Pserra racing pilot Antonio Serravalle walked away with the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship Rotax Micro Max Championship after a near-perfect season in the regional series. Scoring every pole position and every final event race win, the young karter was practically untouchable in his Pserra prepared Tecno chassis. Event after event, Serravalle would stand atop the podium and when all was said and done be named the ECKC Micro Max Champion.

Getting his start at the Goodwood Kartways facility for the opening two rounds back in May, Serravalle started the series off right by earning the first pole position of the season. The up-and-coming driver's only hiccup in the entire series would come during the Saturday prefinal at Goodwood, where Serravalle drove his Tecno kart to a second place finish. From there it was smooth sailing, as Serravalle took the day's main event victory and then swept every on track session on Sunday.

Heading to Trois-Rivieres a few weeks later, Serravalle was again perfect at round three taking pole position, prefinal win and final victory. Moving on to the doubleheader weekend at Mosport International Karting at the end of June, Serravalle battled some tough Pan American Challenge competition but was still able to walk away with a sweep on the weekend. Garnering enough points to lock up the championship, the young gun did not need to run the final event at Mont-Tremblant and at the end of the day was awarded the Micro Max championship trophy.

Throughout the five events entered, Serravalle earned five pole positions, four prefinal wins, a perfect five final victories and seven fast laps. The young talent also was able to break the track record at Goodwood during the Sunday final.

Antonio will enjoy little time off as he gears up for his next race, the 2011 Canadian National Championships set for the Jim Russell Karting Academy in Mont-Tremblant August 12-14. The eager pilot used the recent Coupe du Québec round four event at the same track to prep for the national competition. Serravalle will then head to the US for the finale event of the Pan American Challenge at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana September 22-25, and will also contest overseas in Italy in the Mini 60 class later in the year. And to wrap up his busy karting season, Serravalle will by vying for the win in the TaG Cadet class at the famed SKUSA SuperNationals November 16-20 at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
